Mageknight Dungeons / New form of 3D MKD terrain
« on: November 23, 2016, 04:46:24 AM »
I'm sure this kickstarter will be over before anyone sees this.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1378063512/tabletop-hex-terrain-toolkit

I've just backed this for the full set of Jigs.  I'm going to use it for Wargames and possibly GURPS although the macro hex size is off a bit for GURPS.  However as each tile is 100 mm you can make an interior hex of 50mm which is perfect for MKD.  Maybe a bit large but it would still work.  See attached picture.

Warhammer 40K / What has happened to 40K
« on: June 02, 2015, 02:16:06 AM »
So games workshop is calling themselves a collector's company that just happens to print rules.  They are constantly selling limited edition terrain (that also have rules) that get bought up in a matter of hours from their release on their store and mostly by the same persons who then turn around and sell them for twice the cost on ebay.  Or a great set of vehicle that are exclusive to Warhammer World in Manchester.  That's right you have to go to Manchester UK to get them.  What used to take 5 to 6 years to get a new updated codex is happening every two years now, sometimes less. They have now increased their the base sizes of some of the miniatures to 32mm.

I think I would have a better feeling about these changes if they would ever bother keeping their fan base informed of what was happening.

Mageknight / Selling all my Paper Terrain
« on: March 07, 2015, 10:49:00 AM »
So when WWG pretty much gave the middle finger to it's fans and backstage developers I pretty much gave up on the hobby. So I'm selling it all! Nothing special about the prints, substandard. However every tile is mounted on 5mm PVC board. I've taken a 6 inch hall piece and placed over 13 kg on it and it hardly bends. There is probably around £200.00 worth of PVC pre cut TLX tiles for you guys. Don't like the prints? You can remove them without damaging these sturdy tiles. Pretty much I'm only charging for the tiles the rest comes with it free.

There are enough tiles and walls to make a heck of a lot of things here. I'd hate to throw it out. I can always salvage the PVC tiles as they are extremely durable.

I even have my converted Chunky Gothic Dungeons in 1.5" tiles with velcro on the bottom of the PVC tiles. Not sure how I'm going to sell these in one lot or several little ones. It's paper so your paying more for bulk shipping then weight. The PVC tiles only get heavy if there are hundreds of them.

So drop me an email Subject heading "Interested in Paper Models" john _ morrison _ 57006 (@) yahoo . com you know how to put it together.

Stuff / Finally got a job!
« on: June 24, 2014, 01:18:18 AM »
So I finally got a job!  Only part time but they may be loosing two employees so I have a slim chance of getting a full time slot.  Working as a lodge porter for Hertford College.  No not as a porter who carries stuff, but like an administrative assistant, and security rolled into one.

First pay check I'm going to take a bit out for myself and purchase an airbrush kit.

Stuff / HeroClix
« on: February 26, 2013, 02:17:37 AM »
Okay so I'm a little slow on the jump on this.  My kids have become more and more addicted to Marvel so I've bought a HeroClix starter set.  Do you guys know of any place that sells them fairly cheap.  If they are outside of the UK they would need to have cheap international shipping.  Some places really gut it to you with the lower weight international packages.

Stuff / Tablets
« on: August 19, 2012, 12:50:21 AM »
So I bought a tablet for school.  The ASUS Transformer Prime 201.  I call it Optimus  ;D

It is a nice tablet, better than the iPad IMHO as it comes with a keyboard docking station that also has a battery in it.  So when it is plugged into the docking station you get about 18 hours of battery.  Despite all the reviews of defective Wii Fi and GPS mine works fine.  It has a mini SD card in the tablet, a normal SD Card in the docking station and a USB port in the docking station.

My biggest problem is that it is an Android.  I really wanted something that could run Microsoft Word on it.  Mainly for OneNote.  There is a OneNote App but it is nowhere near as good as the program.  But at least I can view the notes I have made.

It comes with a Note Taking App and a program to use MS Word, Power Point and Excel.  Not as many APPS as an Apple but hopefully that will change.

I had wanted the ASUS B121 but at £900, 4 hour battery life and the weight of it I had to say no.  However it is more of a Laptop in power and function then a tablet.

Mageknight Dungeons / Dungeon Crawlers Quest?
« on: August 03, 2012, 02:33:43 AM »
Take a look at the Casualty bases here

http://www.warbases.co.uk/#/accessories/4533097200

I was thinking of creating a DC game kind of in the lines of MKD, or Dungeon Quest or Rune Quest but be specific for what we like.  The main part of any game is the mechanics.  Miniatures and other stuff is just accessories.  So what I propose is designing a game and selling the bases, cards and rules but allowing the player to use ANY miniature they want.

Right now I'm thinking Hex based miniatures but I have not decided on grid or rulers.  What do you guys think?
