Paper Forts
« on: August 09, 2008, 07:52:37 AM »
I downloaded once, some paper islands that had forts and docks on them.  I cannot find the web site where I got them.  Anybody have any ideas where I can find some different paper islands or terrain for Pirates? I have seen the 3d stuff, but it is too expensive.
Thanks

Are you talking about 2d top down islands?

If so, I could make you some. I bow to HP on 3d stuff :-)

'Course, it would take a couple of kicks at it to get the scale right but adding buildings and wharfs shouldn't be too much of a problem.

*first kick at an island with no attempt at quality

2D is ok.  I have seen some that had docks and forts built into them.  3D would be cool, but not sure what they should look like.  I will keep looking and let you know.
What you made Rob was nice.

Hey, I haven't forgotten about your islands. I looked at the ones you sent me. Easy to create and now I have sizes.

Do you know if there is any copyright on those or can I host them in our download section?

Nice looking islands.  I am just now getting into making 3D terrain.  I bought one of those "Woodland Scenics"  Learning kits.  I had not thought of making Pirates islands.  Yours look real nice.  Most of my Pirates stuff is in Africa and I am currently in the States, but I might be willing to trade you some ships for islands.

I'll add the files you sent me this weekend.

Looking at mine compared to the others... is my version too realistic?

I think I could actually make 3d plaster versions of islands... is there a need for this?

Your version is more realistic than the wizkids islands for sure.(i like yours more)
Pirates (like wizkids) is kind of "on-the-rocks" (dont mind the pun)...seeing as they have "laid off" most of the pirates designers and PR, Pirates may be joining the "skeleton closet" like so many other WK games. Right now there is another set "Savage Shores" coming out soon, and there is another "un-named" set after that.....have to see what happens in the future.

I look forward to seeing what you have made, Rob.  I just don't have the talent to make these things.
Thanks
