« on: November 13, 2009, 09:58:41 AM »
For all you guys who make terrain.  I found this great web site that has lots of textures up for grabs.
Wish I knew how to use them.  Maybe I should learn how to use Photoshop.
Have fun.

MechWarrior/BattleTech / 1200 point game
« on: October 26, 2009, 11:11:21 AM »
Just got through playing a 1200 point Mech game.  It was lots of fun.  Had some cool rule regarding salvage stuff.  Part of the mission was to capture salvage stuff that was randomly placed on the board, get it back to your repair bay and then bring it out to fight.  Had a good time.  Started at 9 am and ended at 3 pm.  Drank lots of coke and ate lots of popcorn.

Paper Terrain & Models / Steel Bridge
« on: October 18, 2009, 11:10:55 PM »
Hey HP,
I wonder if you have ever had a chance to build the ramps for your steel bridge?  It sure would be nice to have.  What about also making a 4 way bridge intersection?  I have an idea for playing a game using a water/swamp world that has lots of bridge/roads in it. 8)
Let me know what you think.

« on: July 13, 2009, 11:11:10 PM »
I am glad to see some new Mechwarrior computer games coming.  I really missed them.  It would be nice to see a new Mech Commander game as well.  Just need to blow the dust of my joy stick.

Books (all genres) / Book of the Swords
« on: March 23, 2009, 12:39:35 PM »
I just got through reading "The First Book of the Swords", by Fred Saberhagen.  Now I am starting on "The Second Book of the Swords".  It is a trilogy about twelve sword that the god Vulcan forged and then gave to us mere mortals.  It is a pretty good story so far.  It centers around three main people and their lives with the swords.
There are six more books about the Lost Swords, which pickup many years after this first trilogy finishes.  I have all six of those and will read them someday.  I'll let you know how they turn out.  These are old, but seem to be good.

I do read new stuff as well.  Anyone out there like the Dirk Pitt stories?

Books (all genres) / The Dark Glory War
« on: November 30, 2008, 11:19:46 PM »
I just got through reading "The Dark Glory War" by Michael A. Stackpole.  It is a very good book.  It is the prequel to the "Dragoncrown War Cycle".  Looks like this is going to be another winner by Stackpole.  I like just about all that he writes.

Anyone else out there read the book?  I am going to be getting the rest to read very soon.:woohoo:

Pirates of the Cursed Seas / Paper Forts
« on: August 09, 2008, 07:52:37 AM »
I downloaded once, some paper islands that had forts and docks on them.  I cannot find the web site where I got them.  Anybody have any ideas where I can find some different paper islands or terrain for Pirates? I have seen the 3d stuff, but it is too expensive.

Books (all genres) / Berserker
« on: March 22, 2008, 02:26:04 AM »
I've been reading some good old books by Fred Saberhagen call the Berserker series.  I read a few when I was in Jr. High and thought they were good so I set out to find the whole series and read them all.  I have almost all but two.  I have enjoyed reading them.

They are about an ancient race that made machines to fight and kill their enemy but something went wrong with the programing and the machines killed both races and are now working their way through the galaxy killing all life. The stories focus on how Human kind are fighting them.

They are easy reading, and fun.  Anyone else read his works?  What do you think?

Mixed Media / Styrofoam
« on: November 03, 2007, 07:59:55 PM »
I thought you might like to see a Fort I build for Mechwarrior.  A while back I bought some new computer monitors and found that the Styrofoam packing looked kind of like a fort.  So I took it home, slapped a little paint on it, printed a few decals, and instant fort.  I am not the best painter so not much detail, but it works.   I would like to see what others have made from things like this.
