Warhammer 40K / Space Wolves
« on: October 10, 2011, 11:27:41 AM »
For £65.00 (including shipping) I got the marines (excluding the captain) from the Assault on Black Reach and the Space Wolves Battleforce.

So that is

10 Tactical Space Marines, Five Space Marine Terminators, a Space Marine Dreadnought, 10 Grey Hunters, 10 Blood Claws, 5 Wolf Scouts and a Drop Pod

Normally £90.00 (reducing the price of Assault on Black Reach) so I'm pretty happy right now ;D ;D

Now to get some Jump Packs!

Comics & Graphic Novels / Marvel Digital Comics
« on: October 08, 2011, 10:56:29 AM »
I just broke down and ordered a year subscription to Marvel Digital Comics.  I went back to some of the earlier Amazing Spider-man issues and although the art is the same they have re digitised them with new colour as they are not the dotted colour fills off old.

So what does my $58 for a year get me?  over 9,000 comics!

You can't download them and you have to view them online but the comic reader is very well done allowing you to read the entire page or frame by frame.

I just got the email yesterday and they are already sold out!

The Tome of Horrors Complete (PFRPG)
Frog God Games

The Tome of Horrors? But that’s been done already; why do it again? Well, actually it’s been done three times, but never like this. With the advent of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game as the newest torchbearer for the world’s most popular role-playing game, we need monsters—lots of monsters. That’s where The Tome of Horrors Complete delivers in spades. Starting from the original Tome written with the 3rd Edition rules along with the later releases of Tomes 2 and 3 for version 3.5, Necromancer Games was in the unique position to bring you updates of the classic monsters not formally released by the OGL, as well as, loads of new ones never sprung upon unsuspecting players before. So well received have these monsters been by the gaming community, that this open content has appeared again and again in game publications by other companies including updates to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game system and even appearances in its own Bestiaries.

Why stop there? Never before have all three volumes been updated to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game in their entirety and released as a single, hardbound tome. Monsters from the aberrant to the yellow musk zombie appear in this book, and everything in between—that’s over 700 monsters. But that’s not all; the appendices bring just as much to the table from templates to hazards to a treatise on poison variations in nearly 50 types of venomous snakes. There are also new feats, planes of existence, strange beings beyond mortal ken, and plenty of charts dividing the compiled monsters by CR, type, and terrain.

But it’s more than just that, because the entire compilation has also been updated to the Swords & Wizardry rules for release as another version of the volume. And in this version, the space freed up by the smaller stat blocks is filled by sample monster lairs and encounters with the hundreds of different monster types featured in the tome. Never before has this massive selection of monsters been updated and brought with these resources all together in one place for use in your own game. And before any Pathfinder players cry foul over the monster lair additions in the Swords & Wizardry version of The Tome of Horrors Complete, this lair information will be available as a free download at the Frog God Games website talesofthefroggod.com for you to use as well.

So you’ve got the monsters—both from the original edition of the game and new—the templates, the multiple appendices on rules, planes, and the n’gathau, and a truckload of sample encounters and lairs to throw at your players, all together in one easy-to-use book. That’s why we call it The Tome of Horrors Complete!

Note: The Print/PDF Bundle has sold out.

$99.99 for the bundle of book and pdf  :o
$29.99 for the pdf  ::)

I'm always shocked at the cost of these large books.  The Worlds Largest Dungeon, Ptolus, Castle Whiterock, and Gazetteer of the Known Realms.  All of these are over $50 just for the pdf!  Now I know there is a lot of work that goes into these huge projects and the writters, artists, publishers, etc. all need to get paid.  However that is still al lot of money for gamers.  Only about 15-20% of gamers are in the upper bracket (financially that is).  I just wonder how they justify the pdf price.  Now The Tome of Horrors Complete isn't that bad for pdf and I might pick it up eventually for use in GURPS  :P  I mean who can resist 700 monsters!

GURPS / GURPS Playing Cards?
« on: September 12, 2011, 07:08:44 AM »
So I've been trying out a few things with GURPS.  Not only working on new forms of Geomorphs but I've noticed a new trend with using playing cards during gaming.

Now these are based off of the FREE 4ed Combat Cards from e23 but I plan on making them a layered pdf for people to just type up the information themselves thus keeping me out of trouble  ;)

These are the card faces I want to do

GURPS Combat Cards
  • Combat Manoeuvres
  • Combat Attacks
  • Advantages
  • Disadvantages
  • Weapons/items
  • Spells
  • Powers/Abilities

I'm not sure if all of them are needed but I can see playing the combat as a card and dice game as GURPS can have some of the most complicated combat rules around.

GURPS / GURPS Geomorphs & Battlemaps
« on: August 27, 2011, 01:14:53 AM »

I hope a picture is worth a thousand words  :D

My idea is taking small hexes (the basic grid for miniatures and movement) and nest them in a Hex and nest that hex in a larger hex.  I think three tiers is enough.  So the smallest Hex would represent 1 inch.  The second smallest would represent the size of a physical battle map and the largest would represent a full size map (does not have to be hex shaped)

Campaign Cartographer / Hexagonal Battle Tiles
« on: August 26, 2011, 03:27:18 AM »
I just added some blank sheets to sketch on HERE

In that pdf you can see the different shapes I will be using to make my battle maps.

These will be used for Dungeons, Overland Maps and Urban settings.  The GURPS version will be 8"x7" with 1" hexes.  I will also offer the exact same hex designs in a smaller 1 hex=1/4" for planning.

I've also considered making a MKD version of 1 Hex = 1.5" but one step at a time.

Here is a pic of some old tests.

With the new July 2011 annual I was wondering if we might not see a Dioramas 3 coming out soon.

Paper Terrain & Models / Two of my MW buildings in play
« on: June 25, 2011, 05:45:06 AM »

This is from RPG Diehard blog.  They wrongly state that all the buildings are from Dream Pod 9 but the two concrete buildings are my design.  They did a really good job building them!

Mixed Media / Eldar Webway Portal
« on: May 24, 2011, 01:57:27 AM »

BloodyDrunk and I are planning a big summer 40K campaign using Planetary Empires and all the extra rules and house rules we can find.  Four armies: Chaos Marines, Tau Empire, Tyranids, and Eldar.  Out of those four armies Chaos and Eldar can use portals (giving them a bit of an advantage).  I don't have any terrain for portals so I thought it best if I made some.

I will be making two Eldar Webway portals and two Chaos Portals.

I'm using PVC board, Inkjet printer transparency, supper glue and gap filler as well as some glass marbles.

I will continue to post pictures as I make progress.

I know I have been absent for some time.  Between school and family I do not have much time.  However I have been working on a big and exciting new MKD board made by WWG.

I hope to show you soon!

« on: February 18, 2011, 12:21:17 AM »
Not sure if you guys check the front page or not.

Ebbles Miniatures only fhave 5-6 DVD's left of their archive DVD.  That is every model they ever made from 2003-2010!

For $50.00, which includes shipping, that is a really good deal.  Just check the boards to see some of the models I have built that are included in the DVD!

Warhammer 40K / My Tau Army
« on: December 29, 2010, 10:50:19 PM »
Here is a list of the models I have for my Tau Empire.  I'm trying to figure out how to best increase my options at the moment.

Note: I can substitute in a regular Crisis Suit for a second commander if needed

Elite

Crisis Battlesuits  x17
Stealth Suits  x3

Troops

Fire Warriors w/ Pulse Rifles  x36
Fire Warriors w/ Carbine Rifles x12
Kroot Carnivores  x12
Kroot Shaper x1
Kroot Hounds x4
Krootox Rider x1
Devilfish Transport x4

Fast Attack

Gun Drones x26
Pathfinders x8
Pathfinders with Rail Rifle x3
Piranha Light Skimmer x3
Vespid Stingwing x6

Heavy

Tau Tank (can be equipped as either Hammerhead or Skyray) x2
Broadside Battle Suit x4
Sniper Drone Team x2
Heavy Gun Drones (Forge World) x4

Drones

Shield Drones x8

So other than getting at least two more Devilfish troop transports and two more squads of Sniper Drone Team and maybe one more squad of Pathfinders (with and additional Devilfish), what would be the best way to round out my army?

Should I get more Skyrays?  A second squad of three Piranha's?  I'm not sure where to go from here.

Computer and Video Games / Just Discovered Dragon Age Origins...
« on: November 20, 2010, 08:43:47 AM »
Anyone here playing Dragon Age Origins?  I just discovered the game (it is my wife's) and I am completely addicted!

I love the dialogue and many of the features of the game.  You can set the tactics of your group so you do not have to micro manage them all.

Screen shots are automatically made at key times during the game

I have found it very enjoyable.
