Fortified Manor. Free PDF Download

The newest article from the Harn Writer’s Guild is a 16 page Free PDF available from Lythia.com.
Link: http://www.lythia.com/2010/08/fortified-manor/
This article describes a large, fortified manor house. It is unnamed and intended to be usable in any fantasy campaign. It is an example of the sort of manor house that might be found on a large, wealthy estate. The lord of such a manor is only one step below a baron and can afford to build a fine stone manor house, support a large household, and live in an impressive style. It may be a newly constructed manor in a dangerous frontier region where such strong defences are necessary or it might be an old, long-settled manor whose defences are now merely a reminder of days gone by.
The writer made a deliberate choice not to name this manor, so that GMs could feel free to insert it anywhere they need a large stone manor house. He hopes it proves to be of use to GMs and PCs alike.
The article includes floor plans of the manor house, description of the household, adventure hooks and Game Master (B&W) and Player (color) local area maps showing the manor and adjacent village.
This is a Harn Writer’s Guild Production: Written by Kerry Mould, Maps by Kerry Mould & Thomas Shook, Art by Richard Luschek, Editing by Brent Bailey.

Enough, time to find a buyer. Anyone interested in the sculpts or castings let me know.
Existing inventory will still be for sale until whatever transition occurs. All figures will be sold from the ebay store here.
I wonder what they want for their molds…

Ultimate D&D-playing dungeon. And I do mean “ultimate.” – Boing Boing.
The Burntwire Brothers spent two years building a custom D&D room in their house. It includes a rack of swords, medieval chandeliers on dimmers controlled by the dungeon-master, as well as hidden strobes and fog machines. It also has every goddamned game ever published, by appearances. And skulls. Iron-bound doors. You get the picture. Give these chaps the Happy Mutant of the Year award.

I just heard that Fictional Reality magazine has published it’s last issue. The creator, Mark Theurer has announced that Fictional Reality magazine will be ending.
I read this on Tabletop Gaming News but wasn’t able to find the original news release so I’ll steal TGN’s copy.

Fictional Reality Issue 38
With a new year beginning there’s also an end coming to something that I’ve worked on for almost ten year now. I will be shutting down Fictional Reality and the recent December 2009 issue will be the last.
I’d like to thank everyone who’s had anything at all to do with FR over the past several years. I feel like if I single out any one person or group to thank first that I’d be doing a disservice to the others, so, in no particular order I’d like to thank…
…the readers, the advertisers, those that sent in stuff to be reviewed, those that wrote articles, gaming websites that have helped post news of FR and the co-editors that I’ve had over the years. I hope that I didn’t forget anyone. If so, I’m sorry. Many thanks to all of you.
I’ll be leaving the FR site up for a while but it will be coming down at some point. If there are issues you want to grab better get them while the getting is good.
Now, I’m not vanishing from the gaming scene. Not by a long shot. I’ll be posting news on a new project that I’m working on soon, but this is really to let everyone know that FR has come to an end and to offer my thanks to everyone that had anything at all to do with it. It’s been an enjoyable ten (almost) years and I’ve had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people in the gaming/hobby industry.
Thanks,
Mark Theurer
I have emailed Mark to see if I’d be allowed to host his archives. Hopefully we can keep this valuable resource online. Personally, I know how hard it is to run a site for years. Dungeon Crawlers has been online since 2003 and I’ve seen a lot of sites come and go. I try to save as much as I can (or am allowed to).

It Has Been a Hundred Years Since the Shadow Fell
In the world of Midnight, evil rules, and the last brave heroes struggle against overwhelming odds. A century ago, the free peoples of Eredane fought the final battles in a des¬perate war of survival against the Shadow, the dark god Izrador…and lost. The lands of men were crushed by Izrador’s armies, or succumbed to his insidious corruption. The shat¬tered remnants of the once-great elves and dwarves retreated to the hearts of their homelands to vainly resist their inevita¬ble defeats. Many of the gentler races were simply enslaved or reduced to hopeless refugees….
Midnight Chronicles , the first full-length feature film from Fantasy Flight Games, tells the epic narrative of two legendary characters, one for the cause of good, the other for the cause of evil. Available now on DVD, this story chronicles their rise and struggle as their destinies become intertwined with that of the world and the dark god that occupies it.

Personally, I couldn’t get the trailers to play. Probably just a temporary glitch, I’ll try it again later.

The National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc. (NECA) has purchased the majority of the assets of WizKids, Inc. from The Topps Company, Inc., including the award-winning Clix family of games, which includes HeroClix, ActionClix, HorrorClix and SportsClix. NECA will also acquire the WizKids brand, the Pocketmodel Game family of games, including the Pirates of the Crimson Coast, Pirates of the Spanish Main and Pirates of the Cursed Seas games, and the Mage Knight line of games.
The assets of WizKids that were purchased by NECA have been transferred to a wholly owned NECA subsidiary operating out of its offices in Hillside, New Jersey, which will operate under the WizKids name.
Clix pioneered the collectible miniature category and HeroClix has been the leading collectible game in the comic genre since its 2002 debut, due to its innovative game platform and deep collection of characters from the respective worlds of Marvel and DC Comics. NECA will continue the successful HeroClix product lines from powerhouse brands DC Comics and Marvel.
The Pocketmodel Game family of games includes the Pirates of the Cursed Seas PocketModel Trading Card Game, which is the latest in the successful line of Pirates card games that has run since selling out its first run in 2004.
“WizKids has created the best games within the collectible miniature and constructible genres and NECA is proud to help continue this great legacy,” said Joel Weinshanker, President and CEO of NECA. “The HeroClix engine is the envy of the industry and many companies have attempted to emulate it without success. We’re thrilled to deliver HeroClix to the gamers.”
NECA has hired Lax Chandra, who ran the WizKids subsidiary for The Topps Company, to be the President of NECA’s newly formed subsidiary, which will operate under the WizKids name. Former WizKids employees Chas Delong, Wade Sugiyama and Mike Elliott have also been brought on to help with the transition.
In the coming days and weeks, the new WizKids company will make further announcements about upcoming release plans.
